Jennifer Lawrence Everyday Hairstyle

Jennifer Lawrence is starring in the upcoming movie: The Hunger Games (out on March 23).
Here is a how-to on achieving Jennifer's effortless beachy waves.

 Beachy Waves

1. When hair is still wet, apply a texturing spray.
2. Let hair dry or blow try. (Works better drying naturally)
3. Take a wand and curl any pieces that need to have added waves.
4. Spray with a seasalt spray.

Hope you enjoyed! Will you be seeing the movie?

February Favorites!

It's already March- so crazy! February went by so fast, and the year is slipping already. I wanted to share my February favorites because I have some new ones!

Maybelline One by One Volume Express
I just got this new mascara recently and I love it! It makes my lashes dark, and long! Ever since I started wearing this I have gotten compliments daily on how long and thick my lashes look. It is not clumpy whatsoever and the waterproof version that I have has kept its hydro-proof promise! I like this mascara over LashBlast only because it has a darker formula, and the brush is easier to get the inside corner lashes.

Secret Wonderland Body Mist from Bath & Body Works
I received this in a giveaway. I love the scent! It's a mix of strawberry and jasmine. It has a fruity/floraly scent without over doing anything. This is definitely not a "airy" scent, but I recommended to check it out or try out the matching lotion.

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
I have been loving Burt's Bees lip products lately. I have the lip balm, and tinted lip balms and adore them both. The regular lip balm is smooth, nourishing, and feels cool and minty on your lips. The tinted lip balm glides on really well, and the color shows.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I have finally gotten around to reading the Hunger Games, and fell in love with it! It is very addicting. I can't wait to read the rest of the series and see the movie (coming out this month!). I have an entire blog post about The Hunger Games which you can view here.

Quaker Oats Lightly Salted Rice Cakes
I have started eating rice cakes lately. I find that they are a great substitution for bread (in some cases) and still taste good. I like to top them with peanut butter (add some bananas/apples), jelly, or salsa. They are also nice to crumble up and use them in recipes. Quaker Oats has several different flavors as well including Apples and Cinnamon, Caramel Corn, Chocolate, White Cheddar, and Butter Popped Corn. I haven't tried all of them, but I hope to soon.

What's your February favorites? Hope you enjoyed! TGIF! XO Charlotte

Fruity Smoothie Recipe!

Hey Everyone! I've been lately making smoothies for snacks or breakfast, and I thought I would share one that I really like!

Ingredients (makes 1 serving)

6-8 ice cubes
1/2 banana
1-2 scoops cottage cheese*
2 scoops low calorie/low sugar jam (whatever flavor you prefer)
1/4 cup water
additional: toss in some fresh or frozen berries if you'd like!

*I promise you, you cannot taste the cottage cheese! Ever since I tried using it, I loved it. It makes the smoothies thicker and creamier. I used to never make consistent smoothies until using this ingredient. I definitely recommend it. Plus: it adds a great source of calcium!

This recipe is great for a snack, or part of breakfast. You can easily add protein powder to it for a pre/post workout snack. The smoothie is very healthy, and tastes delish!
Enjoy! XO Charlotte

Style Star: Olivia Wilde

I have recently been seeing some photos of celebrity Olivia Wilde, and I wanted to do a post on what a "Style Star" she is. I love the trends she takes, as well as the classic pieces she pulls off. Here are some of my favorites:

Olivia Wilde in a Marchesa gown. I love the lace and the tiers on the bottom.

Olivia Wilde in J. Mendel. I love the slit with the mix of cream and black. I love the pop of fuscia shoes. Her hair compliments it well, and her tan glows perfectly.

Olivia Wilde in Monique Lhuiller. This classic black dress fits Olivia perfectly, while complimenting her shape. The last and cutout back adds dimension and adds something special to the dress.

Overall, I really like Olivia's taste. She pulls everything off really well, and always look classic while adding her own flair to the outfit. Hope your weekend is fun! XO Charlotte

Raved Read: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

TGIF! It's finally Friday-- yay!! I have a new (to me) read that I loved! The book is called The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I absolutely loved this book and read through it front to back within days. I have just started book #2, and hope to read all the following books in the series.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Frashares

I won't give any spoilers, but I bet most of you have either read the book or seen the movie. The movie is a bit different, but almost spot on. There are only minor details that have been changed in the movie, but they are both very good.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie
The movie stars Amber Tamblyn as Tibby, Alexis Bledel as Lena, America Ferrera as Carmen, and Blake Lively as Bridget. They also star together in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 movie. I'm not sure if the story line of book #2 and movie #2 match up, but I'll let you know once I finish the book.

Overall, I am loving the series!! I definitely think you should check it out if you like friendship, adventure, and romance (unless you already have!). XO Charlotte

She rocks the metallic look! Super sparkly dress, cinched at the waist, with simple accessories.

Lily Collins stars in a upcoming movie: Mirror Mirror. I can't wait to see it!

Pick up the March issue of Seventeen to see Lily on the cover!

What do you think I Lily Collins? XO Charlotte

Keep the Glow!

During the winter time, your skin can get dull and look anything BUT fresh. Here are some tips to fight the horrible effects that winter weather can have on your skin.

  1. Moisturize: It is super important to moisturize your skin at least once a day. This will help keep your skin smooth and soft. It should help combat the dryness that the chill of the winter weather can give. I also recommend using one with SPF, because even with little sun, you want to protect your skin from the harmful rays. I use Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15.
  2. Glowy Skin: You want your skin to look glowy, not dead. To fix this, use a primer/foundation/ or tinted moisturizer to add some dimension. The look to go for is that when the light hits your face, you shine, in a non-oily way. I use Neutrogena Glow Sheers.
  3. Dewy Cheeks: Having flush cheeks is a must. It brightens up your face, and makes you look overall more appealing. To achieve this look, go for a natural, glowy blush. Ones that work best usually have a cream consistency. I use NYX cream blushes.
  4. Highlight: A highlighter's purpose is to accentuate certain areas. Some good ones to try are Benefit Highbeam, Covergirl Champagne Shadow, or MAC Skinfinishes.
Have a great Sunday! XO Charlotte

Toning Tip: Zumba Fitness

For Christmas, I was given the Zumba Fitness 2 Wii Game as a gift. I've wanted to try Zumba for a long time, and this gift is useful to try it in my own home. I thought I would share my thoughts on what a wonderful game/tool this is to "party yourself into shape".

 Zumba Fitness 2

FEATURES:
  • 32 exhilarating new routines
  • 24 different dance styles
  • Monitor calories burned with the Calorie Tracker
  • Customize your own playlist and routine
  • Tutorial mode lets you break down the moves to learn at your own pace
  • Follow along with the Zumba Fitness Trainers
  • Hit music tracks from Pitbull, Nicole Scherzinger and Yolanda Be Cool and DCUP
  • Dance hands free with the Zumba Fitness belt (included)
My thoughts: I love this game! It's like taking a dance class in your living room. I can choose from a variety of different dance styles with more mellow-high and upbeat music. I can also learn the moves step by step on my own pace. It also has trainers to follow so that you can watch to see what to do correctly. I can create a playlist of routines with music of my choice. It also has a progress tracker for me with includes calories burned, time played, and how well I've been doing. It also includes a belt so you can dance all you want-- hands free! I definitely recommend it!

Will you try it out? XO Charlotte
