July Favorites

This is my first favorites post! These are my favorite products for July!

E.L.F Tone Correcting Concealer: Apricot Beige
I love this product! This is great for summer because it is sheer, but gives nice coverage. It is $1, and is great for the price! It hasn't broken me out, and I will be repurchasing this.
 E.L.F. Studio Powder Brush
This brush is $3, and works amazing! I absolutely love this brush! It buffs everything out nicely, and is super soft. The flat-top is great, and I recommend it to everyone.
 Victoria Secret Beauty Rush Lipgloss
I am a big fan of Victoria Secret, and I cannot live without it! I love its texture and pigmentation. It's smooth, and not too sticky. This is $7, and works great!
Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush: Peach Satin
This is my first cream blush, and I adore it. It's easy to apply, and blends great! It is really pigmented, and a little goes a long way! This is around $6, and is easily accessible!
Covergirl LashBlastFusion
I rave about this product all the time. This is my favorite mascara to date. The wand is not clumpy, and makes your lashed endless and very voluminous. It is waterproof, and does not smear off your face, yet it is easy to remove. For around $5, this mascara is amazing!
Loreal True Match Concealer
This is one of my favorite concealers. It covers nicely and blends great. It works well on under eye circles.
Rimmel London Natural Bronzer: Sun Dance
This bronzer works amazingly! It's very natural, yet so pigmented! It works great for contouring, and makes your skin have a nice tan glow!

I hope you enjoyed my July Favorites! Feel free to leave your favorites in the comments below! Thanks for 40 followers!!! I am so happy and thankful! I am doing a giveaway at 50- and we're getting so close! Thanks again!

Toning Tip: Make a Splash!

I am starting a new segment call "Toning Tip". I thought this was a great idea, and would be something different on my blog. I'll try to post these whenever needed, and depending on if I get good feedback from it! I am on vacation in Arizona right now. If any of you live or have been in Arizona, it's really hot! The relatives I am visiting have a pool and water sports. I have been doing a lot of swimming lately. I love to swim and play in the water, but I don't get to do it a lot. I swim laps in the morning, and continue to play in the pool for the rest of the day. If you are near a lake, pool, or any water, I would suggest going out and swimming. If you have water available, than swim laps, or swim to a bouie and back. I feel a difference in my arms, legs, and core. It tones your arms, and legs. My core feels tighter from the back and forth movement while doing crawl stroke. For the rest of the day, I play in the pool, and enjoy the sun. I have also been drinking a lot of water, and eating fruit, which I eat a lot of during the summer. If you want more of these "Toning Tip" posts than comment below! I will have some fun summer DIY's up soon! Enjoy!

P.S. I have a Herbal Essences post that I published just before this-- check it out :)

Review: Herbal Essences

I have been loving Herbal Essences hair shampoo and conditioner lately. I thought I would do a review on the pairs that I have tried.

This is the None Of Your Frizziness shampoo and conditioner. This is great for hair that is frizzy, curly, or if you live in a climate that gets humid. I have wavy hair, and it's not completely frizzy, but parts of it are and this is really helpful. It holds my curls, and controls the frizz.

This is the featherweight shampoo and conditioner. I don't have hair meant for this, but my sister does, so I thought I would add my/her thoughts on this, that way people with thinner hair could find some suggestions. This is really nice. My sister has stick-straight hair, and this adds some volume and makes smooth.

If you use a lot of heat on your hair, this is perfect for you! This is the Hello Hydration set. It's supposed to hydrate and moisturize your hair. If you use a lot of heat on your hair, this is going to moisturize it and keep it from getting dry.

This is the Totally Twisted set, made for waves and curls. I love this set and it holds my curls and after I use it, my waves are loose, but very defined. I love switching on and off with this set and the None Of Your Frizziness set because I remove frizz and define my curls, which is the perfect combination.

Overall, I am very impressed on Herbal Essences products. I love the packaging for this brand and on the back, they have fun quizzes, facts, and even links to DIYS or tutorials! I tend to switch up my shampoo and conditioner so that my hair doesn't become immune to the specialties of each product. If you want me to do hair reviews for different brands then I will. I a going to do reviews on styling products for my hair too! I hope you enjoyed this and have a fabulous day :)

Back to School: Preperation Tips

I hope you enjoy this! I will have more back to school posts about different thing when it gets closer to back to school dates. Please leave what date you go back to school in the comments-- thanks!

  1. Get back into your school habits. During the summer, I sleep in and stay up late. A couple days before you go back, get back into your habits and routines. This should help for when you wake up on your first day.
  2. What to buy for clothes school shopping!?!? I would definitely buy essentials: jeans, some skirt and tees. Get things that you can wear over and over again and can wear with many things. Also try to get one dressy thing like a skirt and a frilly/lace top.
  3. Reuse school supplies. When summer comes to an end, before I go school shopping, I look at what I have at home or from last year (pens, paper, scissors). Save those things and use them for the next year. It all adds up and this will end up saving a lot of money!
  4. Fresh start! When school starts, I love getting something fresh or new, like a new haircut, or buying some fun new products. I like getting my haircut done before school starts that way I can come back with polished and nice hair!
  5. Decorate your locker. If you have a locker, I suggest decorating it-- nothing big, but adding something fun! I like putting up colorful locker shelves, pictures, and adding some personal touches!
  6. Carry a tote and water. When I go around school, I don't want to be carry my backpack full of books everywhere. I would get a tote bag. They have lots of them at different stores and range with different designs and prices. I got mine from Roxy. I'll carry my homework to and from school with my books in my backpack, but when I'm around campus, I'll use my tote. I also carry a water bottle with me-- It's Eco friendly and comes in handy.
  7. UNIFORMS: I don't currently wear a uniform, but I have worn them in the past years. I didn't preferably like them, especially because they were really strict. If you have a strict uniform, I would say don't break the rules dramatically, but If they say socks above the ankles, and you like your socks shorter (like me), go with it. If you want to wear makeup, than natural: powder, lip gloss, and maybe a little contouring (save mascara and blush for weekends). You can also do your hair really nice everyday for something to spice up your look. If you have a less strict uniform, than paint your nails, do your hair nice, and get away with a little makeup (if these rules apply with your school rules). If you aren't aloud to wear nail polish, than do pastels, but you can always curl or straighten your hair and wear a little makeup. I'll be doing a back to school makeup and clothing looks for public and private schools when it comes closer to back to school.
Hope you enjoyed it :) I know summer is not yet over, but I wanted to get this up for those who go back to school early or people who like to get there back to school supplies early. Look out for more in my back to school series! Thanks!

Amazing Dupes!

I love finding products that can easily compare to high end items, especially when they cost a lot less. Here are some inexpensive products that I think are considered dupes for higher end products. Click on the pictures for a bigger view.

  •  Lashblast Mascara from Covergirl: $6.94! This is an amazing mascara, and I reccomend it to everyone!
  • NYX Cream Blushes: $6.50 each! Cream blushes usually don't price that low, and the NYX ones are really good quality.
  • ELF Bronzer and Blush Duo: $3! I continue to rave about this product because not only is it $3, but it compares to the NARS Laguna and Orgasm Duo which is $40!
  • Physicians Formula Shimmer Strip: $9.34! This shimmer strip is similar to MAC's All that Glitters ($14.50), except it comes with more than one shade, and ranges in color.
  • Overall, you save about: $30!!!

  • NYC Fuchsia Shock Creme: $1! This shade is the perfect barbie pink. It is really pigmented and only takes two coats. It might be the same quality as the Essie polish ($7.79-$8).
  • Revlon Minted: $3.74! I absolutely love Revlon polishes! They are really pigmented and have a great price! It is as good or better than Essie's Absolutely Shore which ranges from $7.79-$8!
  • Overall, you save about: $11.05!!
I hope you found this helpful, and can check out the items that are considered dupes. If you have any other products that you think are as good or better than high end items, leave them below. I hope you enjoy, and have an amazing day :)

REVIEW: ELF Products

Hey everyone-- today I have a review on several ELF products. I have three things that I will be reviewing. Hope it's helpful!

ELF Studio: Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 ($3)
I received this as a gift for my past birthday. I got it in the shade beige. At first, I thought it was good for the price, but then, it started to break me out. The texture was creamy and a little went along way! Yet, after using it twice, I started to break out and got blemishes. I would definitely NOT suggest this for people with oily skin, because the formula is quite oily itself. If you have dry skin, it might work, as long as you don't have sensitive skin, and break out easily. It has a nice tinted color, but I won't be continuing to use it because it irritates my skin.

ELF Essential: Shine Eraser ($1)
I also received this item for my birthday. I thought I would really love this product, because I can easily take it everywhere, and can blot any oily spots, without having to reapply powder. This pack comes with 50 sheets for $1, a good price-- but, It's only a good price if it's a good product! The blotting sheets are a translucent army green color, with brown speckles. It has wax in it which makes it have a weird texture, and it doesn't feel smooth, especially on your skin. It also has some natural ingredients which gives it the green color. It says that it absorbs shine, mattifies skin, and minimizes pores-- but I think it did NONE of this. I saw no difference in the texture of my skin, it did not consume any oil, and I did not see any difference whatsoever. For one dollar, it's worth trying out, but it most likely won't work.

ELF Studio: Contouring Blush and Bronzer Duo ($3)
This is another gift I got for my birthday. I have to say, this might be one of the best ELF products I own. It is even considered a dupe for NARS Laguna bronzer and Orgasm blush. The NARS duo is more than thirteen times the price, yet the ELF can still compare. It is very pigmented, and gives a really nice glow. The packaging is really nice, and it is something that I will definitely be repurchasing!

I hope you found this helpful, and will use this when buying ELF products. Please tell me if you want me to do a group review with other brands, or other items. It was really fun and I enjoyed it! Thanks!

Favorite Summer Accessories

For summer, i like to keep my accessories subtle but also a statement. Here's some pieces that I love!

I love a flower bib necklace for summer! They give any look a feminine vibe and create a girly feel.
I also adore layered colored bracelets. This one is thick and is a colorful pattern with a gold chain in it!

I love turquoise accessories in summer. They look great with a tan and add an effortless feel!

Another example of turquoise accessories are turquoise rings! They are so pretty and are a huge statement!

Layered necklaces are great all year round, but this one is colorful and bright, and the beaded material makes it more effortless!

I have emphasized a lot about how much I adore feathers-- but i had to add them in here again! They are boho, and have become a huge trend this season!

I hope you got some inspiration on my favorite accessories for summer! Comment below telling me one accessory you can't live without for summer! Thanks :) xoxo Charlotte

Favorite Summer Nail Polishes!

For summer i love wearing fun nail polishes! Here's some of my favorite polishes for summer!

Turquoise and Caicos by Essie! This color is the perfect blue and goes so well against a tan!

Electric Pineapple by China Glaze! This color is a perfect yellow. It's really hard to find one that isn't sheer, but this one is super pigmented!
Cute as a button by Essie! This is a super adorable peachy pink. I love this shade and I never get tired of it!

Rage by Orly! I absolutely love metallic on my nails, and this is a perfect gold one! It's super pigmented and is so pretty especially if you color block it with a neon color!
Green and Grusome by OPI! I'm pretty sure this is the unknown shade by OPI from my nail of the day (http://islandbeauty33.blogspot.com/2011/07/nail-of-day-mintsea-foam-green.html). It is super pretty and I absolutely love a mint green!

Those are my favorite color polishes to wear for summer! Comment below your favorites for summer!

Tribal Print Trend!

One trend that I love for summer is the tribal print trend! You can dress it up or dress it down. I've seen it everywhere, the runway, magazines, and even a trend that my friends and I have picked up! :) Here's some pieces that I love!

These shoes are super cute and colorful! The beading on the black pair are adorable and the colorful stripes on the flats go well with lots of things. The beige color with the weaving are also tribal inspired. The dress has a really cute print and cinches to highlight your waist.

Feathers are one way to accessorize for tribal print. They are very boho and have lots of different designs and colors. Scarves are also boho and show the tribal print within the design.

Tribal print is great for summer and fall. Most of these pictures can be found on Google Images, and others are taken by me. I hope you enjoy<3 xoxo Charlotte

Would You Rather Tag: Beauty Edition!

I thought this would be a fun tag to do! Here's by answers:

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
I would rather lose all my palettes and eyeshadows because I could live without those, and I don't wear those everyday. I couldn't live without mascara!

Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
I would rather never cut it again. I love long hair, and as for split ends, or frizz, I could find products to fix those.

Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
I love wearing a coral cheek color, so I'd go with coral.

If you had $1000 to spend, Would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
I would spend it on clothes, because I am fine with the makeup I have- and makeup doesn't last as long as clothes do.

Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
I would apply lipstick as eyeliner- unless the eyeliner was like fuscia, then i would do eyeliner as lipstick!

Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
SEPHORA! It has a wider range of products!

Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?
One lip color, because I would want to switch up my eye color for the occasion, but i think a lip color could work with many things!

Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
I would wear winter clothes in summer, because where I live, the winters are freezing, so i would die if i wore summer clothes in the winter!

Would you rather dark nails or bright nails all year round?
I would wear bright nail polish. I love looking at my nails and seeing a fun, colorful polish!

Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?

I would give up my favorite lip product, because there are some eye products I can't live without!

Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a pony tail or a messy bun?
Pony tail! I could add a braid, or a twist to it!

Would your rather never being able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
I would rather never use lipgloss! I love having my nails painted!

Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all? or sharpie them in everyday?
I would sharpie them in, because i would look horrible with no eyebrows!

Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
I love makeup and nail polish! Can't decide... :P

I hope you enjoyed this! Feel free to write your answers in the comments! Enjoy <3 xoxo Charlotte

Feathers!

One trend that I have been seeing everywhere was: FEATHERS! I've seen hair extensions, earrings, necklaces, and even feathers on clothing! I tried this trend and actually got feather extensions! Here's some pictures and my thoughts on all about feathers!

Personally, I like Selena's and Jennifer's best. This shows different types and colors. Vanessa's is an example of a feather, and Selena's is and example of a group of strands of feathers. These types are used for different hair colors, or types (such as curly or straight). Jennifer has the most colorful set of feathers: pink, yellow, green! I hope you enjoy this and become interested in feathers :) xoxo Charlotte

Small Haul: VANS!

I really love Vans.. they are probably my favorite type of sneaker. I was in Famous Footwear (they sell Vans there) and the Vans section is really a hit or miss. They have really cute shoes, but the Vans section doesn't have many options. I came across this pair, and they were super adorable-- and on sale!
This is the back of the vans. On the back portion, they are a aqua color. They are lined with a navy color, and navy laces.

Now you can see the full shoe. The front part is a royal, indigo color. The inside has black and white polka dots-- so cute!

I thought this was such a good find! They were originally $45- but i got them for $25! Plus, it was buy one get one half off, so my sister got some converse! Hope you enjoyed :) xoxo Charlotte!

Nail of The Day: Mint/Sea Foam Green!

Today I had a girls day and got my nails done! I absolutely love how it looks :) I love seeing the colors that other people wear on their nails because all the colors are so different and give me so much inspiration! Here is my mint/sea foam green nail look:

This is a close up of the detailing on the right hand corner on my nail. There are flowy, breezy, swooshes coming across from the right hand corner. There is also a glitter topcoat only on top of the black and white lines.

This color is a mint/sea foam green color. I know that it is by OPI but the sticker that read the name was taken off--- sorry! If anyone recognizes it, please write it in a comment below!

Hope you enjoyed this Nail of The Day! I love this nail color and design! Try something similar and tell me how it works! If you know the name of this OPI color, please comment it below! Thanks-- enjoy <3

Gladiator Sandals :)

For summer, I love wearing gladiator sandals. They're more dressy that flip flops, but more casual than heels or flats. They come in so many, colors, styles, and designs! Here are three that I love:

This pair i got recently for my birthday. I love the black color and the simple straps. The fun, tribal beading is bright and goes with basically all the colors. Tribal print is also a trend, and I think these are so adorable!
(Forever 21)

This pair has a tan base and white detailing! I love the ruffles. They are girly and flirty. They are also a little more dressy. These are really nice for summer!
(Madden Girl)

This pair is the one that is the most different. It has a little wedge, and zippers up on the back. It has the weave detailing up the foot and then the beige straps on the sides. These are really nice and they're neutral so they go with everything! I love this boho shoe!
(Forever 21)

I love gladiator sandals for summer and I hope you found this helpful :) I have been pretty busy but I'll try to post everyday or every other day! Enjoy <3 Charlotte XO

LashBlast Fusion Mascara Review!

I know that this mascara has received so many great reviews but I wanted to give my thoughts for those who are interested! I absolutely loved this mascara! There was no clumps, I loved the wand and the packaging is really nice. Your lashes are not clumping, and end up long and luscious! :)

This picture is of when i got the mascara for my recent birthday. (http://islandbeauty33.blogspot.com/2011/07/birthday-haul.html)

The packaging is really nice and the wand is amazing! The wand is really wide, which i haven't seen before. The bristles have no clumps and lengthen and adds volume to your lashes so well(: It is also waterproof which is great for summer! I wore this the whole day while swimming in a lake and my mascara did not smear or run the whole day! This was also really nice because not only did it not melt off, but when i was in the water, the mascara remained waterproof while keeping the lashes full and lengthened!

I hope you enjoyed this review. I have been super busy because of family visiting. In a couple of days I'll get back to writing a post daily. Enjoy<3 XOXO

Nail of the Day: Tangerine and Glitter :)

I usually change my nails during the summer every 4-5 days. I usually get tired of the color and want to try something different. I went for a tangerine/orange color! I absolutely love this-- it is going to be the color of the summer! I also went with a unique way to color block (which is also a trend). On my ring finger, i added a glitter topcoat! Hope you enjoy!

My hand with these really pretty yellow flowers!

Up close!--- my ring (glitter) finger is in the shade Starry Silver Glitter by NYC!

My hand! The tangerine color is in the shade Times Square Tangerine Creme by NYC!

Another shot of my hands with these gorgeous flowers!

I used the topcoat in 271A by NYC! Hope you enjoyed and look out for a gladiator sandals fashion post soon! :)

Birthday Haul! :)

My birthday was on July 3... yayyyy!! :) This is all the items I received for my birthday! Just a disclaimer, these things were all given to me as gifts, but I am very thankful and blessed for everything :)

I had asked for belts, because I nearly had any! This one is super adorable for summer, with the light beige color and the crochet detailing!  (Forever 21)

This is the close up on the beading of the pair of gladiator sandals that I got! I love the tribal print and fun colors! (Forever 21)

This is another belt I got in black. I like this because it is made for your waist, which I don't have a belt for.  (Forever 21)

This brown belt is really nice especially for school, but it does have the edgy metallic studs.  (Forever 21)

I really needed this facial scrub. I like how it is made to treat shine control. Even though I have normal skin, I can get a little shiny. (Neutrogena)

I really wanted this. I have heard so many great reviews and it is even considered a dupe for NARS Laguna bronzer.  (ELF)

I have heard so many great reviews on Lash Blast! I finally got it! And it's in waterproof, which is great for summer! (Covergirl)

I really needed this makeup remover because I ran out (:  (Neutrogena)
This was just a fun movie given to me, and it's really good!  (Defiantly Maybe, Target)

This is my first crackle polish, and I am so excited to use it! I might do a review on this if you want:) (Sally Hansen, Walgreens)

This is my second pair of gladiator sandals that I got. I love these! I usually don't like how this type looks, but these are adorable! The nude color is so cute too:) Look out for a post on gladiator sandals for summer!  (Forever 21)
